The Sendero de los Sentidos starts from Cruz del Carmen, next to the Visitor Center of the Anaga Rural Park, and follows an ancient Royal Road through the laurel forest (monteverde), a relic of subtropical forest of great ecological value. It is designed as an interpretative and sensory route, with panels inviting you to perceive nature through sight, smell, touch, and hearing. It is organized into three sections: the first two of low difficulty and the third of low-medium difficulty (with sections of steep slope).

The first, about 400 meters long, is adapted with a wooden walkway for people with reduced mobility and strollers; the second (around 500 meters) adds stairs, a bridge, and an elevated walkway; and the third, the longest (about 1,272 meters), goes into the monteverde and presents steeper slopes in its second half. The environment, often covered in fog, is populated with moss-covered trees, ferns, and abundant endemic vegetation, making it ideal for families.

Essential information

Accessibility

You can reach it by car via the TF-12 road to Cruz del Carmen (km 22.5, Las Mercedes forest, at about 920 m altitude), where the trail starts next to the Anaga Rural Park Visitor Center and there is parking (with spaces adapted for people with reduced mobility), which fills up quickly on weekends and during high season, so it is advisable to arrive early; it is also accessible by TITSA bus to the Cruz del Carmen stop (lines 076 and 077 from the La Laguna Interchange). The first section is adapted with a wooden walkway of about 400 meters, suitable for wheelchairs and strollers.

Risk Level

Although it is an easy trail, wear comfortable shoes and be cautious because the laurel forest floor is often wet and slippery due to frequent fog; always stay on the marked path.
