Barranco de Agua de Dios (yacimiento de Los Cabezazos)
Updated 2 August 2026
This ravine is one of the most important archaeological sites in Tenerife and the living proof of the ancient menceyato of Tegueste. It is home to the Los Cabezazos site, declared an Archaeological Heritage Zone, where habitat caves and funerary spaces are preserved. Excavations by the University of La Laguna, revealed in 2024, dated the Cueva de los Cabezazos to at least six hundred years of continuous Guanche occupation, between the mid-7th century and the 13th century.
Ceramics, remains of consumed animals, necklace beads, mill fragments, and awls have been found there, making it one of the richest sources on the aboriginal life of the island. The surrounding area, of great natural value, also invites you to explore it on foot with respect for its fragility.
