Punta de Teno is the westernmost point of Tenerife, in the municipality of Buenavista del Norte, within the Teno Rural Park and at the foot of the large cliffs of the massif, with the island of La Gomera in the background on clear days. The site is dominated by its lighthouse, operational since 1897 and now automated, alongside coves and an arid landscape of volcanic rock and coastal vegetation. The traditional walking route used to run along the narrow access road to reach the lighthouse.

IMPORTANT: from January 19, 2026, until the completion of the road and parking improvements, access on foot, by private car, and by bicycle is totally prohibited, and you can only get there by TITSA bus line 369, taxi, or authorized vehicle. Before planning your visit, it is advisable to check the status of the works and the service schedules and days in official sources (Buenavista del Norte Town Hall, Tenerife Island Council, and TITSA).

Essential information

Accessibility

Access on foot, by private car, and by bicycle is TOTALLY PROHIBITED every day of the week from January 19, 2026, until the road and parking improvements are completed. The only way to get there is the TITSA bus line 369 from the Buenavista del Norte Bus Station (a journey of about 20 minutes, 1 euro per person per trip, in cash or card), as well as taxis and authorized vehicles (there may be waits). Bus access has limited hours, and the access barrier usually remains closed on weekends, so it is ALWAYS advisable to confirm the updated schedules and service days at titsa.com (line 369) or by calling the Buenavista del Norte Tourist Office (922 128 080) before going.
