Erjos Circular Trail

Erjos Circular Trail

Erjos - Santiago del Teide4 hours
Circular route of medium-high difficultyConnects Erjos with Santiago del TeideCrosses the Teno mountains

The Circular de Erjos starts from the square of Puerto de Erjos, next to the TF-82 road, and runs through the Teno Rural Park, in the surroundings of the municipalities of Los Silos, El Tanque, Buenavista del Norte, and Santiago del Teide. The itinerary first descends to the Charcas de Erjos and then ascends through the Altos del Reventón to the Cumbre de Bolico, passing through places like Casas de la Cumbre and Fuente de Bolico. The dominant vegetation is the green forest (laurel and fayal-brezal of Monte del Agua), with pine areas around Cruz de Gala.

Throughout the route, there are wide views over Erjos and its ponds, Masca, Santiago del Teide, El Teide, and, on clear days, the islands of La Gomera and La Palma. There are several variants of the route (from short round trips to long circular ones), so it is advisable to confirm the distance and elevation of the specific track before setting out.

Essential information

Accessibility

Access is by car via the TF-82 road to Puerto de Erjos (near Restaurante Fleytas), where there is a parking area and public transport stop (TITSA) in the Erjos square; from there, the trail starts on foot towards the Charcas de Erjos. It is not a route suitable for people with reduced mobility as it consists of mountain trails.

Risk Level

It is a long mountain trail with sections of sustained ascent and elevation within the Teno Rural Park: wear hiking shoes, bring enough water, and check the weather forecast, as fog and humidity from the laurel forest can greatly reduce visibility.
