Cherfe Viewpoint

The Mirador de Cherfe is located at the Degollada de Cherfe, in the heart of the Teno Rural Park and on the border between the municipalities of Buenavista del Norte and Santiago del Teide, next to the winding TF-436 road that descends towards the hamlet of Masca, at about 1,100 m above sea level. From there, a very wide panorama of the Teno massif with its deep ravines can be seen, highlighting the spectacular Barranco de Masca nestled between steep mountains. The view also reaches the Santiago valley, the Chinyero Special Nature Reserve, and the little-photographed western face of Teide and Pico Viejo.
On clear days, the silhouettes of the islands of La Gomera and La Palma can be seen in the distance over the Atlantic. It is one of the almost mandatory stops for those traveling the Masca road and a very popular spot for photographs, especially at sunset.
Essential information
Accessibility
It can be reached by car via the TF-436 road, which connects Santiago del Teide with Buenavista del Norte, passing through the hamlet of Masca; the viewpoint is at Degollada de Cherfe, about 1,100 m above sea level, and the road is very winding, so it is advisable to drive with caution. At the viewpoint itself, there are two small pullouts on both sides of the road with space for a few cars; access to the promontory for the views is on foot and a few meters from the parking area.
Risk Level
The viewpoint is next to a very narrow mountain road with many curves and no protective barriers at the edge of the ravine, so it is advisable to park well off the road and stay away from the cliff, especially with children or in windy conditions.
