The natural pools of El Caletón were formed when the lava flows from the 1706 eruption reached the sea and solidified, burying the old port of Garachico and sculpting a series of volcanic rock pools. The area includes several pools with their own names, such as Las Viejas, Los Niños, and Los Chorros, which combine calm areas for families with open sea entrances. They are located in the town of Garachico, at the foot of the Castillo de San Miguel (16th century), connected by a coastal promenade.
Swimming is free, and during the summer season, there is a lifeguard service.
