La Laja Rock Pool, San Juan de la Rambla
Updated 2 August 2026
The Charco de La Laja is a natural volcanic pool located on the coast of the historic center of San Juan de la Rambla, in the north of Tenerife. It is formed between lava flows and black rock that partially protect the water from the open sea, creating a pool of crystal-clear waters with very photographed turquoise tones. It has a small solarium area on the rock for sunbathing, and in the nearby village, there are bars and restaurants.
The surroundings, with the green mountain descending towards the sea, are of great beauty, but it is a rather wild pool whose condition depends greatly on the tide and the waves. The access, improved by the municipality itself, is via a paved path with railings and a stone staircase that descends to the water.
