Icod de los Vinos, in the northwest of Tenerife, is famous for hosting the Millenary Dragon Tree, a large specimen of Dracaena draco declared a National Monument in 1917, measuring about 18 meters in height and whose age is estimated to be several centuries (with a wide margin of uncertainty). The tree is located in the Drago Park, an area of about 3 hectares next to the Church Square, which includes endemic Canarian flora, a volcanic cave with a recreation of a Guanche burial, and trails over the Caforiño ravine. The historic center of the town was declared a Site of Cultural Interest in the category of Historic Ensemble in 2004 and preserves churches, convents, and stately homes.
The Church of San Marcos Evangelista, declared a Monument (2006), stands out, housing a remarkable silver filigree cross of great artistic value. Nearby is also the Drago Butterfly House, a covered tropical garden with hundreds of exotic butterflies in freedom.
