Plaza de la Pila
Icod de los Vinos

This is one of the most emblematic and beloved squares in Icod's historic centre. Its origins date back to the 17th century: in 1631 a group of neighbours agreed to build it and it was inaugurated in 1632 through public subscription. Around it rose the manor houses of the municipality's leading noble families -such as the Lorenzo-Caceres, Alvarez, Tabares and Oramas Saa houses-, making it the epicentre of the town's social, civil and religious life.

Today it offers a pleasant ensemble of traditional Canarian architecture, wooden balconies, gardens and centuries-old trees. It was declared a Cultural Heritage Site (BIC) in 2002.
