The Anaga Lighthouse stands on Roque Bermejo, in one of the most rugged and isolated areas of the Anaga massif, in the municipality of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Its construction began on July 5, 1861, and was completed on September 15, 1863, according to the project of engineer Francisco Clavijo y Plo, the first engineer of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Port Works Board; it entered service in 1864. It is considered the oldest lighthouse in the Canary Islands and the only first-order lighthouse in the archipelago.

The complex consists of a cylindrical masonry tower about 12 meters high, located about 247 meters above sea level, and remains operational as a navigation aid. Due to its location, it can only be reached on foot via a mountain trail or by sea.
