Montaña Blanca
Updated 2 August 2026
Montaña Blanca is a light-toned mountain rising to about 2,748 m in the heart of Teide National Park, formed by pumice deposits from explosive volcanism. It gives its name to the PNT-07 trail (Montaña Blanca - La Rambleta), the classic hiking route to the summit of Teide: about 8.2 km with nearly 1,300 m of elevation gain from TF-21 to La Rambleta viewpoint, over 3,500 m. On its slopes, at around 2,700 m, are the famous "Huevos del Teide", large balls of solidified lava accretion that rolled down the slope during eruptions.
A short branch (PNT-07.1) diverges from the main trail to climb to the summit of Montaña Blanca itself, offering wide views of the park. The broom vegetation accompanies much of the route up to about 3,400 m, where the terrain becomes a bare volcanic landscape.
