Los Silos is one of the gateways to the Teno Rural Park, one of the best-preserved natural areas in Tenerife. From the town center, historical routes begin that ascend through ravines and ancient cobblestone paths towards the midlands and the summit. The most representative trail is the PR-TF 53 Los Silos – Cuevas Negras – Erjos, which crosses the Cuevas Negras ravine, with its traditional cave houses, and culminates in Erjos, next to the famous ponds: old fertile soil extraction quarries (transported to the banana plantations in the south and north of the island until the 1980s) reclaimed by nature, now temporary wetlands that host aquatic and migratory birds around 950 meters above sea level.
The route offers spectacular views of the Isla Baja, laurel forests, heather, and fayal-brezal, and allows you to discover the contrast between the green of the midlands and the blue of the ocean.
