Aldea Blanca is one of the population centers in the middle and lower strip of the municipality of San Miguel de Abona, located in the transition between agricultural midlands and the tourist coast. Aldea Blanca is one of the oldest settlements in San Miguel de Abona: the name first appeared in a land distribution document from 1516 (the Town Hall commemorated its 500th anniversary in 2016). The adjacent hamlet of La Hoya is considered by researchers to be the first settlement nucleus of the municipality and was declared a Site of Cultural Interest with the category of Ethnological Site by Decree 44/2015, preserving a threshing floor, tile oven, Canarian-style house-barn, and cultivation terraces (jable system).
With an agricultural root, it was the 'granary of the south' of the island; its recent residential growth is linked to the proximity of the coast and the tourist south. Today, Aldea Blanca combines its rural roots — with terraces, crops, and the memory of an agricultural economy of potatoes and cereals — with residential growth linked to the proximity of the coast, golf courses, and commercial and service areas that articulate the daily life of the municipality.
