Updated 2 August 2026
The Museum of History and Anthropology of Tenerife (MHA) is housed in the Casa Lercaro, a palace from the last third of the 16th century built by the Lercaro family, Genoese merchants established on the island after the Conquest, located on San Agustín Street in the historic center of San Cristóbal de La Laguna (World Heritage Site). Its collections cover the history of Tenerife and the island's relations with the outside world, addressing society, economy, culture, and daily life from the Castilian conquest to contemporary times. The building itself, with its courtyard and traditional Canarian architecture, is one of the most notable examples of noble architecture in La Laguna.
It is open from Monday to Saturday from 9:00 to 19:00 and on Sundays and holidays from 10:00 to 17:00, with a general admission and a reduced rate for Canary Islands residents, as well as free access on Fridays and Saturdays from 16:00. The museum is part of the Museos de Tenerife network, managed by the Cabildo Insular.
