Roque Anambro

El Roque Anambro is a phonolitic plug reaching 864 meters in altitude in the Anaga Massif, a remnant of an ancient volcanic chimney shaped by erosion into a vertical needle about 75 meters tall and visible. Together with the nearby Roque Chinobre, it marks the southern boundary of the Pijaral Integral Natural Reserve, within the Anaga Rural Park. It is visible from the area's trails, such as the one connecting La Ensillada, Cabezo del Tejo, and Chinobre.
Endangered endemic flora, such as Tolpis glabrescens, grows on its walls, which is why in October 2024, the Cabildo of Tenerife removed the climbing anchors that existed on the rock, where this activity was prohibited.
Essential information
Accessibility
It can be observed from the El Pijaral trail (La Ensillada–Cabezo del Tejo); as it runs through an Integral Natural Reserve, access requires prior free authorization via the Tenerife ON platform (maximum 45 people per day), starting from the La Ensillada parking lot.
Risk Level
It is an integral natural reserve with a mountain trail and ravine areas: leaving the path or climbing the rock is not allowed, and appropriate footwear and caution are advised due to the humidity and unevenness of the laurel forest.
