Diving & snorkelling

Warm waters (19-25 degrees) and good visibilityVolcanic seabeds with turtles, rays, and moray eelsTop spots: Las Galletas, Radazul, and El Puertito

The Canary Atlantic offers top-level diving: warm waters (around 19-25°C depending on the season), good visibility, and volcanic seabeds with caves, arches, and marine life such as rays, moray eels, groupers, and schools of fish. In the south and southeast, Las Galletas (Arona) stands out, considered one of the diving capitals of the island, with a marina (Marina del Sur) and several centers offering boat trips, and the bay of Radazul (El Rosario), with clear waters and easy access from the beach, very popular for recreational dives and introductory dives. Numerous centers offer introductory dives without experience and certification courses, as well as snorkeling excursions for companions.

El Puertito de Adeje (Armeñime) is a cove of an old fishing neighborhood known for its green turtles and located in a protected marine area (ZEC Teno-Rasca, Natura 2000 Network); it is worth noting that its turtle population has greatly decreased compared to years ago, and sightings are not guaranteed today, so if they appear, they should be observed with respect and from a distance, without touching or feeding them.

Essential information

Accessibility

El Puertito de Adeje (Armeñime) is reached via the TF-1 (exit towards La Caleta/Armeñime) and the road leading down to El Puertito; it is a fishing village cove with very limited street parking, so it is advisable to arrive early. Radazul (El Rosario) and Las Galletas (Arona, Marina del Sur port) are accessible by car via the TF-1 and have parking next to the marina, from where boats from the diving centers depart.

Risk Level

Dive or snorkel with an accredited center or accompanied, wear water shoes due to the rocky bottom, and respect the turtles and marine life without touching or feeding them (protected species), avoiding areas with currents or boat traffic.
