Mirador de El Lance

Mirador de El Lance

Los Realejos

Located on the road that climbs from Realejo Alto towards Icod el Alto, this viewpoint offers a privileged panorama of the Orotava Valley, taking in the municipalities of Los Realejos, La Orotava and Puerto de la Cruz, with Mount Teide in the background. It is presided over by an imposing bronze sculpture of the mencey Bentor, son and successor of Bencomo, the last chieftain of Taoro. According to tradition, after the Guanche defeat in the conquest, Bentor refused to surrender and threw himself into the void from the Tigaiga cliff, following the native ritual.

From that legend comes the name "El Lance" (The Leap). The viewpoint, with a café and terrace, is one of the most visited and symbolic spots in the municipality.
