Playa de La Tejita is a black sand beach about 1 km long located in El Médano, in the municipality of Granadilla de Abona, next to the volcanic cone of Montaña Roja. It is part of the Montaña Roja Special Natural Reserve, a protected natural area, so there is no vehicular access to the sand itself. It is an open and windy beach, very popular with windsurfing and kitesurfing enthusiasts, where nudism is allowed, especially at the end closest to the mountain.

Its virgin environment and the reddish silhouette of Montaña Roja make it one of the most recognizable beaches in the south of Tenerife.

Essential information

Accessibility

It is reached by the El Médano-Los Abrigos road, where there are parking areas (more than 100 spaces) from which several paths lead to the sand in about 5-10 minutes on foot.

Risk Level

It is an open beach exposed to wind and waves, without confirmed permanent surveillance, so it is advisable to exercise caution when swimming.
