Verified content· Updated 26 June 2026
The Mirador de La Garañona is a municipal viewpoint park in El Sauzal, part of the Island Network of Viewpoints, overlooking the cliffs of the Acentejo coast, a Protected Landscape. It covers about 1,615 m² organized into several gardened terraces connected by stairs and ramps, with endemic and foreign species such as bougainvilleas, strelitzias, Canary palms, and jacarandas. From its terraces, you can see the cliffs, over 200 meters above the Atlantic, and El Arenal beach.
At the entrance, the La Garañona Elevator, from 1956, is preserved, built to lift sand from the beach and was barely used for a week as the Navy prohibited its operation. The site has a bar-cafeteria service and terrace, and it is open from 8:00 to 21:00.
