El Médano Beach
El Médano, Granadilla de Abona
Paradise for windsurfing and kitesurfing in TenerifeGolden sand and constant wind all year roundWide designated kitesurfing area

El Médano Beach, in Granadilla de Abona, is an urban beach of about 750 meters of fine golden sand and shallow waters that holds the Blue Flag. The constant wind in the area has made it one of the world reference spots for windsurfing and kitesurfing, to the point of hosting events of the PWA world windsurfing circuit (Tenerife Windsurf World Cup). The section closest to the village, with milder waves, is more suitable for families and swimming, while the distant part is reserved for sailing sports.

In the background rises the Special Natural Reserve of Montaña Roja, an ancient volcanic cone by the sea that frames the landscape, and the beachfront has a promenade, restaurants, schools, and water sports equipment shops.
